6.30 - 9pm. Explore the bouncy and energising style of Saiidi dance from Egypt. A folkloric dance, stemming from an ancient martial art dance done with sticks by men - called Tahtib. Over the years,women have taken on the dance and it is now a popular form for all to enjoy with the addition of sequined or shiny canes. Often seen in traditional displays of Egytian Dance and also in Cabaret Belly Dance shows.
This workshop will focus on some of the basic moves of Saiidi dance and will fuse these with some Earthy Fellahin style moves and rhythms. Guinevere has learnt Saiidi with Hossam and Serena Ramzy, Keti Sharif & Liza la Ziza and enjoys performing Saiidi for it's truly uplifting feel and laid back, addictive rhythms.
