Baubo Moon Belly Dance - Community Interest Company
Baubo Moon Belly Dance CIC - is dedicated to promoting the art and benefits of Belly Dance in safe, appropriate settings for women and girls. Due to the massive interest locally in Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion and throughout Wales in Belly Dance for learning, events and festivals, we set up our group in 2007. Our group and collaborative approach has meant we have been able to; host a range of teachers including Hossam and Serena Ramzy, organise a womens space with art and dance workshops at The Celtic Blue Rock Festival, raised over £1,000 for Wales Air Ambulance in a marathon 12 hr sponsored belly dance, contributed funds to Just Because Charity and offered workshops in rural settings for women and girls. We ran the Belly Dance Body & Soul Project in conjunction with Wales Womens Aid throughout 2009 & 2010 with workshops and a fundrasing show at Small World Theatre, Cardigan raising over £400 for the womens aid group in Cardigan.
The Baubo Moon Belly Dance Company is supported by local arts groups SPAN, Tidy Like Records, The Jam Shop, Live Lightly, Pembroke Dock Midsummer Festival and The Celtic Blue Rock Festival. We aim to contiune to promote the personal, social, creative and health benefits that Belly Dance brings, working across sectors with professionalism and ambition. So far we have been funded by Pembrokeshire Council, The Arts Council of Wales, The National Lottery, Pembrokeshire Tourism and received sponsorship and raffle prizes from Vincent Davies, Tesco, The Taj Mahal restaraunt and many others. Thankyou.
We are now launching an exciting new European Social Fund project called Belly Dance Works - engaging with a range of Women's groups to promote the many benefits that Belly Dance brings and working to provide short acredited coures in our subject to help develop participants.
Our group became a Community Interest Company (Social Enterprise) in June 2010. Watch this space or visit www.baubomoonbellydance.co.uk - our evolving website to check our events and progress,
