Bringing Belly Dancing To Pembrokeshire

'Belly dancing has grown from an ancient middle eastern art form to a popular dance peformed across the globe. And now that popularity has found its way to Pembrokeshire.

With the demand for classes and pafermances on the increase the first specialist belly dancing shop has been unveiled in Haverfordwest.

Spearheaded by teacher and belly dancer of ten years, Guinevere Clark, The Shimmy Shop opened its Quay St doors for the first time last week.

"The idea was to set-up a belly dancing shop after identifying a demand for items such as music, videos and costumes.' explained Guinevere who has just returned from a ten-day training course run by world famous dancer Keti Sharif.

"I was selling most of the items on a regular basis at my classes" she added."But I just wanted to centralise it all in a shop...It wasn't just about going into retail, I also felt I needed to improve my business image as a whole."
