Baubo Belly Dancing Workshops

Weekend Workshops are for anyone interested in Belly Dancing. Participants can be total beginners or experienced dancers. The joy of coming to a residential workshop is that you can dedicate a whole weekend to the art. We learn, share and craft our skill, dancing as individuals, in pairs and in groups. A choreographed dance will also be practiced. Astro-Belly courses utilise classical belly dance moves and focus on your own personal horoscope through dance and astrological interpretation. A-Z Workshops are certificated belly dance courses that will enhance your dancing forever! For belly dance teacher training oppurtunities see information below.

7-9pm Learn to dance sequences based on each sign of the Zodiac. Beautiful, inspired Belly Dance sequnces, easy to learn and something for everyone!

This workshop will focus on some of the basic principles of dancing to the theme of elements, as well as core Belly Dance moves and linking sequences. We will then dance approx 4-6 Zodiac signs, exploring the personality and character this brings to our creaive expressions. Open level.

Baubo Belly Dancing - Lotus Flower Saiidi Style Dance workshop - Part 1

Location: Aberystwyth Arts Centre - Book via Arts Centre

6.30 - 9pm. Explore the bouncy and energising style of Saiidi dance from Egypt. A folkloric dance, stemming from an ancient martial art dance done with sticks by men - called Tahtib. Over the years,women have taken on the dance and it is now a popular form for all to enjoy with the addition of sequined or shiny canes. Often seen in traditional displays of Egytian Dance and also in Cabaret Belly Dance shows.

 

This workshop will focus on some of the basic moves of Saiidi dance and will fuse these with some Earthy Fellahin style moves and rhythms. Guinevere has learnt Saiidi with Hossam and Serena Ramzy, Keti Sharif & Liza la Ziza and enjoys performing Saiidi for it's truly uplifting feel and laid back, addictive rhythms. DANCING CANES provided

7.30 - 8.30pm - Beginners / Improvers. Fun, friendly class, working in blocks of 6 weeks. This class will run on consecutive Tues from 13 April, though no class on 11 May as hall is pre booked that night. Last class of 6 weeks is Tues 25th May. Advanced choroepgrphy group  - 8.45 - 10pm - Working on the above dates. Focus on a Finale piece which involves the whole group with a diverse selection of props and from June a Hossam Ramzy piece for performance in October in Cardiff. £40/6 wks
